Cowgirl up for breast cancer hoe down at arts center

The women will be in charge at the Courthouse Center for the Arts this Saturday, Feb. 7, during the Sadie Hawkins Hoe Down. The goal of the Hoe Down is two-fold: to raise breast cancer awareness and raise funds for the Gloria Gemma Foundation for research for breast cancer. Tickets are on sale now.

The dance also coincides with the opening of the Keeping A "Breast" show by the Artlandish Sisters. A portion of all proceeds from their artwork is donated to various breast cancer organizations.

Melanie Scheutz will display her Enchanted Lotus original jewelry and donate a portion of the proceeds to the Gloria Gemma Foundation. The jewelry is created from all natural elements including gemstones, wood, shells, leather, feathers, etc.

The Courthouse will be transformed into a true country western dance hall featuring a mechanical bull, a BBQ buffet and the twostepping tunes of the band Heartbreak.

Tickets are $65 per person, $120 a couple and are on sale now.

The hoe down starts at 7 p.m. at the Courthouse Center for the Arts, 3481 Kingstown Rd., West Kingston, RI.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Gloria Gemma Foundation. For more information and hoe down tickets, call 782-1018 or visit www.courthousearts.org.
