Aaron Hocutt, 88

The Reverend Aaron Lee Hocutt, 88, of Jamestown died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at Newport Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Gladys "Sunny" (Ruby) Hocutt for 60 years.

Born in New Hope Springs, N.C., he was a son of the late William Scott and Cleora (Beddingfi eld) Hocutt.

A graduate of the Crozer Theological Seminary School in Philadelphia, he was an active minister for the United Church of Christ until his death. He volunteered in the American Field Service in the Ambulance Corp during World War II and served in Italy and France.

He was an avid gardener and love for his family was paramount.

Besides his wife he leaves a son, David Hocutt of New Bedford, Mass.; four daughters, Jacqueline Desjardins of North Kingstown, Melinda Rossi of Norwood, Mass., Ellen Hocutt of Wakefield and Elizabeth Brazil of Jamestown; two sisters, Carol Watters of Wilmington, N.C. and JoAnn Garner of Greenville, N.C.; three granddaughters, Jennifer, Pattie, and Jamie; and four grandsons, Justin, Michael, Jarrett, and Anthony.
