Carrying a concealed

weapon charged

Michael Carr, 45, of 50 Steamboat St., was charged Feb. 5 with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and carrying a concealed weapon while intoxicated, police said.

Carr was held at the police station and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Feb. 6 in Newport District Court, police said.

Drunk driving charged

• James Almeida, 24, of 125 Narragansett Ave., was charged Feb. 7 with first offense drunk driving and refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer test, police said.

According to police, Almeida was stopped on Narragansett Avenue after police received a call about an erratic driver.

Almeida was held at the police station and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Feb. 20 at Newport District Court, police said.

• James Godena, 40, of 6 Windsor St., was charged Feb. 8 with first offense drunk driving and refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer test, police said.

According to police, Godena was stopped on North Main Road for erratic driving.

Godena was held at the police station and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Feb. 20 at Newport District Court, police said.

• Joan Briggs, 61, of 284 East Shore Rd., was charged Feb. 7 with first offense drunk driving and refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer test, police said.

According to police, Briggs was found passed out behind the wheel of her car, blocking the northbound lane of East Shore Road.

Briggs was held at the police station and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Feb. 20 at Newport District Court, police said.

Driving without a

license charged

Lesbia Marleni Monterroso, 29, of Newport, was charged Feb. 6 with driving without a license, police said.

According to police, Monterroso was charged during a routine traffic stop on Route 138.

A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Feb. 20 in Newport District Court, police said.

Driving on a suspended

license charged

Brain Nacci, 24, of 169 Conanicus Ave. #7, was charged Feb. 7 with driving with a suspended license during a routine traffic stop, police said.

A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Feb. 13, police said.
