Learn about island's moveable past
Jamestown has a long history of moving building and recycling structures in new locations. The Jamestown Historical Society is looking for information and photographs about buildings that have been moved.
One of Jamestown's most famous movable buildings, the Movable Chapel, will be featured in the JHS display case at the Jamestown Philomenian Library later this month. The chapel, built in 1899, had wheels and was moved from place to place by several teams of oxen. Information on other buildings that have been moved will also be available.
