Jamestown Arts Center clears its first hurdle

The Jamestown Arts Center will have a home to call its own if the organization can raise the money necessary to purchase the former town offi ces property at 44 Southwest Ave.

On Monday, the Town Council agreed to sell the property to the arts group, which has until the end of this year to complete the transaction.

As proposed, the Jamestown Arts Center would serve islanders of all ages with classes and studio space. Such a facility would be a welcome addition to our community and would enhance our local cultural opportunities.

If you agree, make a contribution to the cause.
