Children's dance classes start today
      The Jamestown Recreation Center will start early childhood movement and dance classes at the Recreation Center today, Thursday, April 2. Classes will be conducted every Tuesday and Thursday. Toddler Dance, for ages 2 and 3, will be from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., Baby Brain Dance, ages 3 months to prewalking, will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Ackerman next on list for book discussion
      The Jamestown Book Discussion groups will read the "The Zookeeper's Wife: A War Story," by Diane Ackerman on Monday, April 20, at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, April 21, at 1 p.m. The Jamestown library runs two book discussions. Meetings are the third week of the month. The evening group meets on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m.

Teen center holds extended hours
      The Jamestown Teen Center will open at noon on Thursday, April 9, because of the Jamestown schools' half day. The teen center will be closed on Good Friday, April 10. Open hours during spring break will be Tuesday through Saturday, April 14 through April 18, 2 to 9 p.m.

Nutrition focus of ladies night
      The Jamestown Teen Center will host a "Nutrition and Meal Planning" ladies' night on Tuesday, April 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There will be a workshop on healthy eating habits and planning nutritious meals on a budget. Nancy Beye, from Pampered Chef, will co-host this girls' only event. Samples will be available, but purchases can also be made. Moms are welcome as well.

Don't miss brunch with Senator Reed
      Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed will provide a "Washington Update" as the next guest speaker for the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce's Winter Breakfast Series on Thursday, April 9. The breakfast will begin at 9 a.m., a change from the normal 7 a.m. start time, at the Bay Voyage Inn, 150 Conanicus Ave.
