Local couple wins wedding worth $10,000

Jamestown Boy Scout troop conquers Breakheart Trail
      The Boy Scouts of Troop 1 Jamestown hiked the Breakheart Trail at Arcadia Park in western Rhode Island on March 15 and 16. They began their trek at Frosty Hollow Pond carrying full packs with all their gear for an overnight campout.

Rose Island Lighthouse comes to library
      Children can learn more about Rose Island Lighthouse and the environment on Rose Island during the Jamestown library's free, hour-long, hands-on program on Tuesday, April 14, from 11a.m. to 12 p.m. The program is for children ages 4 years old and over and will feature a reading and a "tour" of the ten-foot tall solar powered lighthouse model.

Teen gives talk on Nicaragua service project
      As part of his senior project, islander Victor Lambert will give a presentation on his July 2007 trip to Nicaragua tonight, Thursday, April 2, at 7 p.m. at the Jamestown Teen Center. Lambert took the trip as part of a Jamestown Teen Center service project.

Jamestown swimmers excel at New England Championships
      Jamestown was well represented on the Newport Wahoos swim team this season, including several islanders who advanced to the New England Swimming Championships held on March 21 and 22 at Boston University and Harvard University. The Wahoos placed 46 out of 71 teams and Jamestown represented one-third of the 37 swimmers who qualified and competed from the team.

Nest-keeping
      Mark Baker, pictured, and Chris Powell did some spring sprucing on the osprey perch and nest at Great Marsh. The nest and platform were checked for soundness, cleared of debris and the webcam adjusted on Tuesday.

Forum sheds light on teen substance abuse
      The Jamestown schools will shed light on drug and alcohol use by teens during an informational workshop on Tuesday, April 7, at 7 p.m. The drug awareness forum will include a presentation on teen drug and alcohol use by a guest panel, a question and answer session and dinner.

      Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation will hold an e-waste recycling and Eco-Depot collection on Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Second Beach in Middletown. This service is free for all Rhode Island residents.

      Chloe Renee Wyman and Craig Matthew Eminger were married March 26, 2009 at Boston City Hall. The bride is the daughter of Joseph and Donna Drago of Jamestown, and Richard Wyman of Richmond. The groom is the son of Mark and Elizabeth Eminger of Warwick.
