Wind Committee evaluates turbine options
      Within two years, Jamestown may be profiting from its own energy use, and with minimal impact on the environment. "Many of us on the committee are looking to more than maximize profits for the town, we're looking to maximize social benefi ts," Wind Committee Chairman Don Wineberg said.

      At a time when many high school seniors are hoping to coast through the rest of the school year, islander Ryan Morris is gearing up for an intense few months of baseball and football. Morris played both sports all four years at North Kingstown and as a freshman he also played basketball.

Planning Commission gives seal of approval to $453k grant
      With a large emphasis on affordable housing and the town's Comprehensive Community Plan in mind, the Jamestown Planning Commission passed a proposal for a Community Development Block Grant last week at Town Hall.

Garden club holds first meeting of the year
      Quononoquott Garden Club will have its first meeting of 2009 at St. Matthew's Parish Hall on Monday, April 13, beginning with a business meeting at 1 p.m. The program will start at 2 p.m.

Medal winners
     The Jamestown Science Olympiad Team competed against over 20 other teams from around the state on March 28. The competition, held at Rhode Island College, involved the use of science skills in 23 events. This year's team brought home silver and bronze medals from the Pentathlon and Science Bowl.
