Learn about Rose Island Lighthouse
Children can learn more about Rose Island Lighthouse and the environment on Rose Island during the Jamestown library's free, hour-long, hands-on program on Tuesday, April 14, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The program is for children ages 4 years and older and will feature a reading and a "tour" of the 10-foot-tall solar-powered lighthouse model. This solar-powered lighthouse is also equipped with an anemometer to show wind speed and a standard 4-inch rain gauge. Students will learn how rainwater is collected for everyday use at Rose Island. This hands-on experience will give the students a better idea of how a lighthouse functions.
Registration is not required for this free program, which will take place in the library meeting hall.
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Jamestown Library.
