Junior docents needed at Gilbert Stuart
Do you like learning about colonial history? Do you like telling people what you know?
The Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum is looking for motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable young people between the ages of 9 and 18 to volunteer in the junior docent program. Junior docents assist in greeting, guiding, and giving museum tours to visitors, many from outside of Rhode Island. Boys and girls are asked to volunteer at least once a month and may also serve at special events during the museum's season. Not only is participating in this program fun, but it is an excellent way to earn community service hours and gain a sense of pride.
An open house for prospective junior docents will be held at the museum on Sunday, April 19, at 1 p.m. The junior docent program, including training, will be explained and a tour of the museum led by current junior docents (with whom you may chat about their experience at the museum), will be given. Visit the museum junior docent open house to find out more. For further information call the museum at 294-3001.
