Drunk driving charged
Katherine Benisch Egan, 20, of Middletown, was charged May 3 with first offense drunk driving and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test, police said.
According to police, they received a report of a possible intoxicated operator of a disabled motor vehicle at the Newport Bridge toll plaza. When the officer arrived on scene, the vehicle was back on the road and operating erratically.
Egan was held at the police station and a re-arraignment was scheduled for May 8 at Newport District Court, police said.
Suspended license charges
• Orlando Piker, 29, of Middletown, was charged May 8 with driving on a suspended license and receiving stolen goods, police said.
According to police, Piker was found to be driving a vehicle with stolen license plates during a traffic stop on Route 138 west.
A re-arraignment was scheduled for May 11 at Newport District Court, police said.
• Guy Frigon, 50, of East Shore Road, was charged May 8 with driving with a suspended license, police said.
According to police, Frigon was seen operating his vehicle by an officer who knew his license was suspended.
A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for May 15 at Newport District Court, police said.
Drug possession charged
A juvenile, 17, of North Kingstown, was charged May 8 for first offense possession of marijuana, police said.
According to police, an officer located a suspicious group of subjects behind Lawn Avenue school and found the juvenile to be in possession of the drug.
The case was referred to Family Court, police said.
