Helen M. DeTour, 100

Helen M. (Millis) DeTour, 100, of Pemberton Avenue,

died peacefully

Monday, May 18, 2009 at Village House in Newport. She was the wife of the late Louis E. DeTour.

Born in North Adams, Mass., a daughter of the late Daniel and Agnes (LeBleau) Millis, she lived and raised her family in Great Barrington, Mass. for 45 years before moving to Jamestown.

Mrs. DeTour was a telephone operator for AT&T before retiring and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Helen was a lifelong Democrat, and proud of it. She loved spending time with her family and never missed her grandson's soccer and basketball games.

She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and never missed an opportunity to participate in a lively debate. She was a communicant of St. Mark Church.

She leaves a son, Thomas De- Tour and his wife Christine of Jamestown; two sisters, Mary Trottier of New York and Nancy Millis of Jamestown; two grandsons, Michael and Daniel DeTour. She was the sister of the late Dorothy McSheen, Anna Sweeney, Francis, James, William, John and Robert Millis.

Her funeral will be held Friday, May 22, at 8:45 a.m. from the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. Her burial will be private.
