Local farm receives award from Yankee Magazine

Sweet Berry Farm of Middletown has been named "Best Agricultural Expedition" an Editors' Choice award, in the latest Yankee Magazine's Travel Guide to New England.

"Come for the market, relax for lunch, stroll the gardens, order a picnic supper, and stay for an open-air concert. When it's time to go home, take a little bit of Sweet Berry Farm with you, from the pick-your-own strawberries, to the homemade ice cream, to the farm's own sausage and smoked meats," the magazine said.

"Yankee's editors and our trusted legion of travel writers select our Editors' Choice winners," says Yankee editor Mell Allen. "From their own experiences and tips from our readers, they research and find the most deserving establishments in New England. Recipients range from the rustic to the refined, but all are noteworthy and memorable destinations."

Yankee Magazine's 2009 Travel Guide offers 270 reasons to see New England, including 254 "Best of New England' Editors' Choice' selections where visitors can find the best foods and refreshments, lodging and attractions. This special issue also names 120 top events around the region and includes food, home and garden articles.
