William E. Basik, 94
William E. Basik, 94, of Jamestown, died May 18, 2009 at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Hazel.
Born in Chicago, Ill., he taught ballroom dancing at the Aragon Ball Room, then entered the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific, Asiatic, European, African and Middle Eastern Theatre on the USS Sampson.
He moved to Jamestown upon retiring from Automatic Electric in Chicago. He loved gardening, opera, oil painting and his animals.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy L. Krainin and her husband, Howard.
The funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Rd., Wilton, NH 03096-0915.
