Until two months ago, unless someone was involved with North Kingstown High School athletics or on one of the teams that played the Skippers, they were not familiar with islander Ryan Morris. But, in the last month, all of that has changed for the soft-spoken football and baseball player when he was named both the baseball Gatorade Player of the Year for Rhode Island and a finalist in the Cox Sports Awards. Jamestown Planning Commission members unanimously expressed support for a subdivision on a Clinton Avenue property because the applicant is attempting to comply with town ordinances, preserve trees and care for the environment. The preliminary review of the subdivision was held at the June 3 meeting. “I think we have preserved a lot more than most others would,” applicant Nikki Andrews told the commission. More...

Graduations • Linda Del Buono of Jamestown graduated from the University of Rhode Island on May 17 with a bachelor of science degree in textiles with a minor in art. She is an active member of the Jamestown Art Association. Linda has a great interest in horticulture and plans to pursue a degree in environmental horticulture. More...
Walking into my first fi- nancial town meeting last Monday night, it was quite intimidating. The Teen Center’s Youth Advisory Board, AMPT and Jamestown’s seventh grade Teen Institute 2009 participants will host a dodgeball tournament at the Recreation Center on Thursday, June 11, at 3:30 p.m. All students in grades 5 through 8 are welcome to participate. Teams should have eight members who must wear uniforms. Sign up with Mrs. Nocon at Lawn Avenue School by Friday, June 5. The Fuzz Foundation for Dedicated Athletes, a nonprofit volunteer organization, was created in memory of Donald “Fuzzy” Andreozzi by his daughters Megan and Rachel Andreozzi. Jocelyn A. (McNanna) O’Neill, 79, of Providence, died peacefully Friday, June 5, 2009 at Bethany House, Providence. She was the wife of the late Raymond T. O’Neill Jr. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Raymond S. and Katherine (Benson) McNanna. Mrs. O’Neill graduated from Classical High School and received her bachelor of arts degree from the Rhode Island College of Education.
