Jocelyn A. O’Neill, 79
She was the wife of the late Raymond T. O’Neill Jr.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Raymond S. and Katherine (Benson) McNanna.
Mrs. O’Neill graduated from Classical High School and received her bachelor of arts degree from the Rhode Island College of Education. She earned a master’s in education from the University of Connecticut.
She was an elementary school teacher, retiring from the Scott School in Warwick.
Mrs. O’Neill was a member of the Chatham Village Garden Club, the Brown University book club, the R.I. Federation of Garden Clubs, the Association of University Women and was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She was a communicant of St. Peter Church and was a member of the Women’s Club.
She leaves two sons, Stephen J. O’Neill of Howell, N.J. and John D. O’Neill of Pomona, Calif.; three daughters, M. Katherine O’Neill of Jamestown, Jocelyn A. O’Neill- Sarr of Galway, Ireland, and Ashland, Ore, and Jeanne M. O’Neill of Stoughton, Mass.; a brother, Raymond McNanna of Milford, Mass.; two sisters, Katherine Kells of New York and Eileen Johnston of Charlottestown, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
She also leaves six grandchildren, Michaela and Brianna Cohoon, Liam Sarr-O’Neill, Alena, Karina and Adam O’Neill. She was predeceased by her brother, the late Father Neal McNanna.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 19, at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
Visiting hours are today, Thursday, June 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown.
