Program teaches kids respect for animals

Like people, companion animals have basic needs such as healthy food, clean water, a safe place to live and someone to call a friend.

The Friends of the Jamestown Library’s program “People and Pets 101” uses hands-on materials to teach children how to be kind and respectful to animals. Children will learn about the wonderful benefits of the humananimal bond and basic safety skills will be taught in a positive, non-threatening way.

Providence Animal Rescue will bring this hour-long program to the Jamestown Philomenian Library on Saturday, June 20, at 11 a.m.

Children are asked to bring a donation of an old towel, blanket or canned food for the shelter.
