Gilbert Stuart Museum to host Members Appreciation Day
The Gilbert Stuart Museum will hold its Members Appreciation Day at the Museum on Sunday, June 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. New members can join during the event, which will also include a thank-you to all members, new and old, for participating in the Gilbert Stuart community.
Members are invited to bring family or friends to join the museum community.
Refreshments and fishing demonstrations will be offered, and visitors can stroll the historic and natural grounds.
Visits to the paddlewheel-powered snuff mill where Gilbert Stuart was born will also be offered and visitors can tour the nature trail and see the recently discovered historic cemetery that lies along its path. Talks on the museum’s herb garden plants will also take place.
The event will also include a free drawing for a rare collector’s edition of Gilbert Stuart, a printed book by Richard McLanathan.
Individual memberships are $30, and family memberships are $40.
The Gilbert Stuart Museum and Birthplace is located off U.S. Route 1 in Saunderstown. Call 294-3001 or visit www.gilbertstuartmuseum.org for more information.
