Drug possession charges

• Kenneth Alves, 21, of Newport, was charged June 21 with first offense drunk driving, refusing to submit to a Breathalyzer test and first offense possession of marijuana, police said.

According to police, an officer witnessed Alves hit a parked car on Highland Drive.

Alves was held at the police station and a re-arraignment was scheduled for June 21, police said.

• James Cheever, 32, of Portsmouth, was charged June 20 with drug possession, police said.

According to police, an officer spotted Cheever in a vehicle on Highland Drive attempting to use drugs.

Cheever was held at the police station and a screening was scheduled for July 30 at Newport District Court, police said.

• Barry Roberts, 48, of Newport, was charged June 20 with first offense marijuana possession and driving on a suspended license during a traffic stop on Narragansett Avenue, police said.

Roberts was held at the police station and a re-arraignment was scheduled for June 26 at Newport District Court, police said.

Drunk driving charge

Clifford Henrotin, 58, of 158 Walcott Ave., was charged June 17 with drunk driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .15, police said.

According to police, Henrotin was stopped on High Street for erratic driving.

A re-arraignment was scheduled for June 26 at Newport District Court, police said.

Underage possession

of alcohol charge

• Nicholas Ferranti, 19, of Saunderstown, was charged June 20 with underage possession of alcohol, police said.

According to police, an officer saw Ferranti walking down Highland Drive with alcohol.

An arraignment will be scheduled for Newport District Court, police said.

• Justin Leo, 20, of Scituate, was charged June 20 with underage possession of alcohol, police said.

According to police, an officer saw Leo walking down Highland Drive with alcohol.

An arraignment will be scheduled for Newport District Court, police said.
