When I was a kid, an old farmer hired my friend Brian and me to do some work on his farm. We were not accustomed to the backbreaking labor that was involved in the basic upkeep of a farm, and by the end of the day we were so sore that we had difficulty getting on our bicycles so we could pedal home. Orlando J. ‘Chick’ Ciccone Sr., 77, of Fairview St., passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Angelina (Grieco) Ciccone and had been the husband of Rosemarie (Sciotto) Ciccone for 52 years. Mr. Ciccone was the chef and owner of Cozy Catering for 31 years. He was a member of the Jamestown Shores Association and the St. Mark Knights of Columbus. More...
Fraudulent check charge Timothy Ruzzo, 39, of Tisbury, Mass., was charged July 3 with one count of unlawful appropriation and three counts of fraudulent check writing over $1,000, police said. According to police, Ruzzo was picked up by Martha’s Vineyard police on bench warrants for writing bad checks in Jamestown. Ruzzo was held at the police station and transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for July 7 at Newport District Court, police said. More...
