Tour ‘master gardens’ this weekend with URI
Gardeners trained through URI’s master gardener program will open 39 public and private gardens to the public during the organization’s fourth biennial “Gardening with the Masters,” this Saturday and Sunday, July 18- 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.
The event, Rhode Island’s only statewide garden tour, is sponsored by the URI Master Gardener Association, a 600-member allvolunteer service organization of certified URI master gardeners, whose mission focuses on education, outreach and sustainability.
Master gardeners will serve as guides at each site and educational materials will be available at www. urimga.org.
Guidebooks, which serve as admission for both days and include garden descriptions and directions, must be purchased in advance. They are available for $15 at garden centers throughout the state or through the URI master gardener website. Tickets are also available at Schartner Farms in Exeter, the Farmer’s Daughter in Wakefield, Highland Farm in Wakefield and Chaves’ Gardens in Middletown.
