Clarification on Shoreby Hill comment

Last week’s article regarding historic districts quoted me as saying, “The zoning board has reached a consensus in support of historic district zoning.” I believe what I said was that there is not a consensus on the zoning board as to the extent of our authority to impose design conditions intended to preserve historic character, so that I personally thought creation of historic districts would be a good thing that would protect what made the town special.

I would be grateful if you could clarify this issue for your readers.
