CIAA invites island artists to enter ‘People & Places’ art show
The Conanicut Island Art Association of Jamestown invites artists to enter its next art show at the Town Hall gallery. The theme of the non-juried show is “People & Places.” Every piece must contain a human figure, and work in any media is welcome.
All artists are invited. You do not need to be a CIAA member.
To enter, artists should drop off works at Town Hall on Thursday, Sept. 3, between noon and 4 p.m. Work will hang from Sept. 10 through Nov. 12.
Each artist may enter up to three pieces. The CIAA is currently able to hang 65 pieces. If more pieces are received, the show may be edited. Each separately framed part of a work to be hung together is considered one piece. An entry fee of $10 per piece will be charged.
Only original pieces made by the artist in any medium may be entered. No reproductions of original artwork are permitted.
For this show, all artwork must be for sale. No awards will be given. The CIAA will take a 20 percent commission on all works sold.
All pieces must be suitably framed and must be ready to hang. Pieces with saw tooth hangers, clips, unprotected glass or other sharp edges will not be accepted. Framed artwork must not exceed 48 inches in any direction, and must not exceed 50 pounds. Any 3D pieces must be wall hung.
The show’s opening reception, open to the public, will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. Bring an appetizer to share, if possible, and enjoy a cash bar.
Artwork must be suitable for viewing by all age groups. All accepted artwork must remain in Town Hall for the duration of the show and must be picked up on Thursday, Nov. 12, between noon and 4 p.m.
