Driving without a license/

driving with an expired license

• Julian Melgar, 29 of 13 Bradford Ave., Apt. 2 in Newport, was charged Aug. 15 with driving without a license after an officer assisted with a blown tire on Longfellow Road, then found the registration to be improper and the operator not to have a license, police said. An arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 21 in Newport District Court, according to police.

• Richard Horton, 31, of 55 Ebony Ct. in North Kingstown, was charged Aug. 19 with driving without a license/driving with an expired license following a traffic stop on Rte. 138 westbound, police said. An arraignment was scheduled for Sept. 4 in Newport District Court, according to police.

Disorderly conduct

David Burlingame, 46, of 12 Hull St., was charged Aug. 18 with disorderly conduct after allegedly threatening an involved party when an officer responded to a verbal argument in progress on Seaside Drive, police said. He was held at the police station and an arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 19 in Newport District Court, according to police.

Fugitive from justice

Todd Bourdelais, 36, of 100 Bay View Drive, was charged Aug. 24 with being a fugitive from justice after he turned himself in at the police station, police said. He was held at the station and an arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 25 in Newport District Court, according to police.

DUI charges

Donald Ryng, 47, of 31 North Main Rd. was charged Aug. 22 with first-offense DUI during a traffic stop for erratic operation on North Main Road, according to police. He was held at the police station and a re-arraignment was scheduled for Sept. 4 in Newport District Court, according to police.

Fraudulent check charges

• Kelly Crouchley, 42, of 146 Sand Hill Cove Rd. in Narragansett was charged July 16 with writing fraudulent checks after being picked up on a warrant for this charge, police said. She was held at the Women’s Intake Center at the ACI and a court date was scheduled for July 24 in Newport District Court, according to police.

• Jennifer Paquette, 31, of 62 Pine St. in Portsmouth was charged Aug 2 with writing fraudulent checks after being picked up on North Road on a warrant for this charge, police said. She was arraigned in court and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Aug. 21 in Newport District Court, according to police.

Underage drinking

• A juvenile from North Kingstown was charged Aug. 9 with possession of beverage by an underage person during an investigation of juveniles partying on Dutch Island and allegedly attempting to steal dinghies, police said. The juvenile appeared in Newport District Court, according to police.

• Henry Stevenson, 18, of 62 Hancock Dr. in North Kingstown was charged Aug. 20 with possession of beverage by an underage person when officers stopped him while on a routine patrol of Dutch Harbor, police said. An arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 28 in Newport District Court, according to police.
