R.I. Foundation seeks projects to fund
The Rhode Island Foundation seeks applications for projects that incorporate the arts into core academics.
Applications are being sought for projects that would take place between January and June, 2010. Any K-12 public or charter schoolteacher, artist or nonprofit organization is eligible to apply; the proposed project must benefit Rhode Island schoolchildren.
Grant amounts will range from $500 to $1,000. Applications must be received at the Rhode Island Foundation by Friday, Oct. 30.
Projects will be funded by the Arts in Academics Fund established by the late Karel Greenblatt Gertsacov, who noted, “When the arts are woven into the learning experience, they provide not only skill acquirement and application, but they enhance education by promoting curiosity, discovery, inquiry, experimentation, persistence, inventiveness, exploration, critical thought and creative problem solving.”
