Free prostate cancer screening at SCH

South County Hospital will hold its annual free prostate cancer screening clinic this Saturday, Sept. 12, from 8 a.m. to noon. The clinic will be held at the hospital and will be conducted by boardcertifi ed physicians from Urology Associates.

All men age 50 and older are welcome to attend. The exam is private, quick and convenient.

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. and generally has no early symptoms, so screening is vitally important. Detected early, prostate cancer is highly treatable. The American Cancer Society recommends that all men age 50 and older have an annual prostate cancer screening. Men with a family history of the disease, and African American men should begin screening at an early age.

A free varicose vein screening clinic for women and men will be offered at the hospital on the same date and time as the prostate cancer screening clinic.

Registration is not necessary but to ensure that sufficient materials are available, please call 788- 3868. Walk-ins are welcome for both clinics and will not be turned away.
