Holy Ghost Society to hold first annual Portuguese Heritage Day
On Saturday, Oct. 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Holy Ghost Society will hold its first annual Portuguese Heritage Day at the Portuguese American Citizens Club on Narragansett Avenue.
The indoor festivities, which will be held rain or shine, will begin with complimentary traditional Portuguese soup from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
A variety of other traditional Portuguese foods, including chourico and peppers sandwiches, bifanas (Pork tenderloin), cacoila (marinated meat), favas (beans in sauce), sweet bread and malassadas (dough boys) will be available for purchase.
A Chinese raffle will also be held.
All are welcome to join in this celebration honoring the Portuguese- American heritage of Jamestown. All proceeds will benefit the Holy Ghost Society scholarship fund.
