Youth to experience ‘homelessness’
St. Matthew’s Youth Group will hold its second Night of Homelessness on Saturday, Oct. 10. The youth will gather at St. Matthew’s at 5 p.m. for workshops on the causes and farreaching effects of homelessness, followed by a night spent outside in the church yard.
Youth will arrive with only the clothes they are wearing and will be dependent on community donations to construct cardboard shelters, share food and keep warm through the night.
Jamestowners are invited to come by St. Matthew’s on Saturday night to support this event with cardboard, blankets, food for the volunteers, non-perishable food and/or cash donations. Any non-perishable food items donated will go to the Johnnycake Center in Peacedale, and any cash donations will be delivered to Lucy’s Hearth Shelter in Middletown.
