Lawn School eighth-graders kick off fundraising for D.C. trip
      This fall, Lawn Avenue School eighth-graders have been learning about the history of the U.S. government, the founding fathers and government in action. Later this year, with the help of a huge fundraising effort, the students will take their learning to a new level as they embark on a four-day trip to the nation’s capital.

Terranova named to N.E. Tech dean’s list
      James A. Terranova of Jamestown, RI has achieved Dean’s List status for the quarter ending Sept. 26 at New England Institute of Technology. Students must achieve a GPA of 3.6 or higher on a maximum scale of 4.0 to qualify.

Local scientist proposes ‘coyote coexistence’ animal feeding ordinance
      A Jamestown scientist has applied a groundbreaking approach to her study on the growth of coyote populations on Conanicut and Aquidneck Islands. The research, led by biologist Numi Mitchell, has turned up a wealth of information in support of a draft ordinance that promises to manage coyotes more effectively than eradication campaigns.
