Empty Bowls fundraiser planned for Nov. 6 at Melrose School

On Friday, Nov. 6, from 3:30 to 7 p.m., the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser will be held at Melrose School in Jamestown.

Throughout the year, hundreds of local school children and volunteers have been making and glazing bowls for this event. Each guest chooses a bowl, a cloth napkin and a spoon; guests then select from a variety of delicious soups.

All soups are provided by Panera Bread, and a macaroni and cheese dish will also be available. Breads are donated by local bakeries, and desserts are provided by local Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Guests may keep the bowl and napkin.

All proceeds from this volunteer effort benefit local food pantries and the R.I. Community Food Bank.

Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children under 17 years old. Price includes soup, bread, dessert and coffee. Live music is provided by a local jazz ensemble, and the event also features a silent auction of art items and t-shirts for sale.

The event is funded by the Jamestown Education Foundation and the Jamestown Rotary Club.
