Teen Center to posts upcoming activities

The Jamestown Teen Center will sponsor a number of events for island teens this week and next:

• Tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m., the Jamestown Teen Task Force will hold its first event: A showing of the film “Supersize Me” at the Teen Center. The film is being shown as part of the Teen Task Force’s healthy eating initiative. Contact Student Assistance Counselor Stephanie Nocon at rid24640@ride.ri.net for more information.

• On Saturday, Nov. 14, at 5:30 p.m., teens will go to a Providence College Friars game. Cost for trip is $20 per person. The Teen Center will be closed on this day.

• On Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Jamestown library, the Jamestown Teen Task Force will show the newest Invisible Children film, with a reception to follow at the Teen Center. Invisible Children is an international group of filmmakers, students and concerned citizens who raise awareness about conflict in Uganda.

• On Friday, Nov. 20, the Teen Center will close at 6 p.m. so that teens can go to United Skates of America in Rumford. Cost for the trip, which does not include skate rentals, rock climbing, laser tag and other activities, is $10. Visit www. unitedskatesri.com for more information.

• On Saturday, Nov. 21, the Teen Center will close at 6 p.m. so that teens can attend a Providence Bruins game. Cost for the trip is $20; space is limited. Transportation will be provided by the Jamestown Recreation Department.
