JoAnne O. Barsumian
JoAnne O. Barsumian passed
away on Friday,
Dec. 11, 2009, after a short illness. A graduate of Pratt Institute, JoAnne was well known for her wonderful watercolors of birds and flowers. She was a long-time resident of Monroe, Conn., Orleans, Mass. and more recently of Apex, N.C. and Middletown, R.I. JoAnne was the wife of the late Gary Barsumian, also an artist and graduate of Pratt Institute.
Born in 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Edwina Osborne.
JoAnne leaves two children, Baird Barsumian of Harwich, Mass. and Lisa Barsumian of Paris, France, who summers in Jamestown; a sister, Edwina McAninch, and her husband, Edward, of Camas, Wash.; a son-in-law, Tom Farrell, of Paris, France; a daughter in-law, Joann Barsumian of Rutland, Vt.; and four grandchildren, James and Aiden Farrell of Paris, France, and Rose and Aram Barsumian of Rutland, Vt.
JoAnne will be dearly missed by her family and countless friends. Her warmth, humor and generosity of spirit endeared her to everyone she met. JoAnne’s paintings have brought joy into many homes and lives, and in this way, she will forever be remembered.
A celebration of JoAnne’s life will be held at Saint Matthew’s Church, 87 Narragansett Ave. in Jamestown on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions in JoAnne’s memory to the National Audubon Society, 225 Varick St., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10014 would be greatly appreciated.
