Island bird count rescheduled
Due to inclement weather, the 27th annual Conanicut Island Christmas Bird Count has been rescheduled for Saturday, Jan. 2.
Those interested in taking part should meet at the Jamestown police station at 7:30 a.m. Dress warmly, and bring binoculars and a field guide.
Participants will be divided into four groups to cover the farms, the North End, Beavertail and downtown, and will count all birds seen. They will meet back at the police station at noon to tally the numbers, break for lunch and continue informal birding in the afternoon.
Birders unable to join the count may observe birds in their yard and call them in. For information or to report birds, contact Candy Powell at 423-1492 or Evelyn Rhodes at 423-1254.
