SELAC to sponsor workshop for parents
On Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the music room at Melrose School, the Jamestown Special Education Local Advisory Committee will present “Systems for Sensory Kids: A Workshop for Parents,” featuring Carolyn Dalgliesh, founder and owner of Systems for Sensory Kids.
“Sensory” kids, such as those with anxiety disorder, high-functioning autism, sensory integration dysfunction, learning challenges, ADD/ADHD, obsessive/ compulsive disorder and other sensory challenges, need special organizing and sensory solutions.
As the parent of a sensory child, Dalgliesh understands the challenges other parents face every day. Her presentation will include techniques to help sensory children thrive, ways to support sensory children at home and ways to address sensory needs while traveling. The event will also include a question-and-answer period.
Dalgliesh is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers and a certified green home specialist. She is based in North Kingstown. Visit www.systemsforsensorykids.com for more information.
