‘Dialogues in Democracy’ at high school
North Kingstown High School students will present solutions for local, state and national problems to elected officials during “Dialogues in Democracy” on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
Senators Reed and Whitehouse, Representatives Langevin and Kennedy, statewide general office holders, state representatives and senators have been invited, along with local elected officials and community leaders. The event will provide opportunities to engage in meaningful dialogue about issues important to our communities.
This is the first year that Democracy and Engaged Citizenship has been a graduation requirement at North Kingstown High School. In this course, students explore competing definitions of democracy, study ways that others have acted within democratic societies, learn how to participate in a democratic community and apply their learning to an issue of their choice.
