Keeping pace with Mother Nature
Look outside. The snow looks pretty, but all that wonderful winter scenery comes with a hefty price tag.
Town Administrator Bruce Keiser says that we’ve already used more than half of the funds that the town has earmarked for snow removal in the current budget.
The town has $27,000 set aside in the 2009- 2010 municipal budget. Of that, we’ve used about $18,000 to date. The first winter storm, which gave us the white Christmas, cost the town $13,000, Keiser said.
“At this rate, it’s going to be a tough winter,” Keiser said.
This is only the first week of January. The first day of spring is March 20. Of course, we could still have a snowstorm or two after that date.
