Works by local painters on display at library

An exhibit of original art by Evelyn Rhodes and some of her workshop students is on display at the Jamestown Philomenian Library now through Feb. 13.

Works include watercolors, pastels and oils, and were created during plein air – “in the open air” – classes.

Classes meet outdoors at locations around Jamestown and nearby areas. Viewers will recognize some favorite local sights, such as Clingstone, Beavertail Light and the island farms.

Exhibitors include island residents Emily Boenning, Alma Davenport, Eleanor Gravdahl, Katherine Grimes, Judy Knight and Wickford resident Carole Stone.

The exhibit is open to the public during regular library hours. Exhibits at the library are sponsored by the Conanicut Island Art Association.
