Blackwood, 66, of

Saunderstown, R.I., formerly of Jamestown, died Sunday, Jan. 24, at home, surrounded by family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Richard W. Blackwood.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Walter V. and Celia Gordon.

Prior to her illness, she worked for the Jamestown Recreation Dept. She was also an employee at the Portuguese American Citizens Club for many years.

Ollie enjoyed kayaking Narragansett Bay, listening to folk music and riding her scooter around Jamestown.

Ollie leaves her son, Richard, his wife, Colleen, and her granddaughter, Hannah. She also leaves a brother, Walter Gordon, and his wife, Peggy, of Jamestown; a brother, Arthur Gordon, and his wife, Katherine, of New Jersey; and a brother, Joseph Gordon, and his wife, Alice, of Cranston. She leaves many nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

A Mass will be held this Saturday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Church in Jamestown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for the benefit of terminally ill children can be made to the Payton Elizabeth Watson Memorial Foundation, in care of Frank and Elizabeth Watson, 25 Shady Cove Rd., North Kingstown, RI 02985.
