Free tax help at library begins Monday
      Free AARP Tax-Aide tax assistance and tax return preparation will be available every Monday and Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., beginning Monday, Feb. 8, through April 14 – with the exception of Feb. 15. The service is available for low and moderate-income taxpayers of all ages, especially taxpayers ages 60 and older.

Teen Center lock-in this Saturday
      The Teen Center will host a three-on-three basketball tournament and lock-in to celebrate its second anniversary this Saturday, Feb. 6, from 8 p.m. until 8 a.m. on Sunday. The event will feature a minihoop slam dunk contest, games, movies and more, along with prizes for the dunk contest and tournament winners.

Library to present shipping program
      On Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m., the Friends of the Jamestown Library will present “Narragansett Bay Shipping: A View From the Shore with Rod Smith,” a talk and presentation of photographs.

JCT to offer acting classes
     The Jamestown Community Theatre will offer “A Smorgasbord of Acting,” a series of classes for ages 10 through adult. Participants will work on audition techniques, scene study and character work, as well as how to be more comfortable on stage, articulation and voice projection.

N.K.H.S. hosts parent info event tonight
      North Kingstown High School will hold an information night for parents and incoming eighth-grade students tonight, Feb. 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Register now for Cal Ripken baseball
      Registration is now open for the 2010 season of Jamestown Cal Ripken baseball. Four leagues will be formed this year: Cal Ripken Majors (9 to 12 years old), Cal Ripken Minors (8 to 10 years old), Rookies (6 to 7 years old) and Tee Ball (4 to 5 years old). The age structure of the leagues may change, depending on the number of players that register in each age group.
