Register now for JCT acting classes

The Jamestown Community Theatre still has openings in “A Smorgasbord of Acting,” a series of classes for ages 10 through adult.

Participants will work on audition techniques, scene study and character work, as well as how to be more comfortable on stage, articulation and voice projection.

Students will also learn to control their bodies as they work on dialogue development, simple plays, monologues, short scenes and improvisation. Students will come away with increased confi- dence on stage, as well as public speaking skills.

Those with experience on stage, as well as those who would like to get their feet wet, are welcome to sign up. A mature willingness to work, learn and to collaborate with others is essential.

A fee of $20 will be charged to cover materials; financial aid is available. JCT encourages parents, children and teens to take the class together.

The class runs for six Wednesday evenings, March 3 through April 7, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Jamestown Country Club. Instructors Mary Wright, Annie McIntyre and Mary Haite will use their varied experiences in the areas of stage, creative management, television and radio to work with students.

Call Mary Wright at 423-1586 or e-mail ms.wright@cox.net for more information or to sign up by Wednesday, Feb. 24.
