Community piano concert to feature Hutchins

Eileen Hutchins, well-known concert pianist and member of the piano faculty at the Longy School Conservatory, will perform at the third concert of the Jamestown Community Piano Association’s 2009-2010 season on Sunday, March 21, at 4 p.m.

The all-piano recital at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church will feature works by Franz Schubert, Claude Debussy and Ruth Loman. Loman is composer and artist in residence at Brandeis University.

Hutchins performs annually at the Delmarva Piano Festival in Delaware, which she co-founded in 1991. She has performed at the International Conference on Women in Music in London, and has been a guest pianist with the CUBE Ensemble in Chicago and the Da Capo Chamber Players in New York.

She has taught at DePaul University and Columbia College in Chicago and served as chair of the piano departments of Andrews University and the Longy School of Music. She will jury the URI Piano Extravaganza! at the University of Rhode Island in early April.

The concert is free; donations for piano maintenance and performance support are appreciated.
