Community Band to hold spring concert March 30
The Jamestown Community Band, under the leadership of Bethany Clarke, will perform its spring concert on Tuesday, March 30, at 7 p.m. at the Portuguese American Citizens Club in Jamestown.
The program will include lively interpretations of English folk and sea songs by Percy Grainger and Ralph Vaughn Williams, as well as the long-time island favorites Colonel Bogey’s March, Seventy-Six Trombones, John Phillips Souza’s Thunderer and Stars And Stripes Forever.
Bethany Clarke, the band’s conductor, originally joined the community band when she was in the sixth grade. A few years have passed since that fateful decision, but Bethany returned to the band a year ago and is now in her senior year at URI with a double major in music education and music history.
Admission is free, and light refreshments will follow the music. All are welcome!
