Elizabeth L. “Betsy” Aldrich, 65

Elizabeth L. “Betsy” (Byers) Aldrich, 65, of North Kingstown, died peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2010, at South Kingstown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Naples, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Monte L. Byers and Adria (Johnson) Byers.

Ms. Aldrich owned and operated Betsy’s Beauty Salon of North Kingstown until her retirement in 1986. She was a graduate of Arthur Angelo School of Hairdressing and served on the R.I. State Board of Hairdressing. She was active in the Rainbow Girls and the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as past Worthy Matron of Martha Chapter and also served as Grand Martha. She had been a member of the North Kingstown Republican Town Committee and was a R.I. Delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1980 and 1984.

She leaves a son, Robert J. Aldrich, and his wife, Robyn, of North Kingstown; a sister, Norma B. Willis, of Jamestown; and her sister-in-law, Carole A. Byers, of North Kingstown. She also leaves her two beloved grandchildren, Jaime E.M. Aldrich and Robert J. Aldrich, of North Kingstown. She was the sister of the late Robert A. Byers.

A graveside service will be held this Saturday, March 27, at 11 a.m. in Elm Grove Cemetery in Wickford. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford at 140 West Main St., Wickford Village, North Kingstown.
