Island churches announce Easter schedules

Jamestown’s churches will hold worship services for Easter.

Central Baptist Church

Tonight, Thursday, the church will hold a Maundy Thursday service beginning with a simple soup supper at 6:45 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. service of communion and tenebrae. The church will also hold a Good Friday service tomorrow, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 4, a 6:15 a.m. sunrise service will be held at Beavertail State Park (parking lot 3). A pancake breakfast will be served at the church at 7 a.m., followed by a 9:30 a.m. worship service.

St. Mark Church

Tonight, Thursday, April 1, the church will celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m. Tomorrow, Good Friday, April 2, Stations of the Cross will be held at 3 p.m., with a celebration of the Passion at 7 p.m. An Easter Vigil Mass begins at 7:30 p.m. on Holy Saturday, April 3, and Masses will be celebrated on Easter Sunday, April 4, at 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. The 10 a.m. Mass is a family Mass.

St. Matthew’s Church

Saint Matthew’s Church will host a Seder meal tonight, Thursday, at 6 p.m. with Holy Eucharist and stripping of the altar. Tomorrow, Good Friday, April 2, a noontime ecumenical Good Friday service will be held, followed by a 7 p.m. Good Friday liturgy. On Saturday, April 3, the Great Vigil of Easter will be held at 7:30 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 4, the Holy Eucharist will be held at 8 a.m. (with no music) and 10 a.m. (with music).

Ecumenical

Good Friday service

St. Matthew’s Church will also host the ecumenical Good Friday service, which will begin at noon tomorrow, Friday, April 2.
