SAMP lecture tonight at N.K. library
Rod Mather, marine archaeologist and history professor at the University of Rhode Island, will present “Underwater Archaeology Uncovers Block Island’s Sunken History,” tonight, Thursday, April 8, at 7 p.m. at the North Kingstown Free Library at 100 Boone St. in Wickford.
Mather will describe underwater archaeological sites close to Block Island and the work his team has been doing as part of the R.I. Ocean Special Area Management Plan (SAMP). This work includes historic research, ocean survey, archaeological site assessment using SCUBA and the development of GIS databases.
