Help with island clean-up Saturday
The Jamestown Conservation Commission’s annual Island Shoreline Clean-up event will be held this Saturday, April 17.
Participants should meet at the recreation center on Conanicus Avenue at 8:30 a.m. After a continental breakfast by Slice of Heaven, participants will be divided into teams and dispatched to public shoreline areas.
All participants should bring gloves and wear appropriate shoes. Bags are provided by the Conservation Commission.
At noon, participants will meet back at the recreation center for a lunch provided by the Conanicut Island Land Trust.
Children are encouraged to help with parent supervision; community service hours are available for those who bring a form to be signed, as long as participation meets the criteria.
Volunteers with pick-up trucks are also needed to transport bagged garbage from roadside points to the Island Rubbish-provided dumpster by the docks at East Ferry.
Contact Patrick Driscoll at 560-0111 for more information about the event.
