M*A*S*H* fundraiser to benefit island resident
Calling all M*A*S*H* fans – tickets are now on sale for a themed fundraiser at Trattoria Simpatico on Monday, May 3, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will help islander Laura Smith with medical expenses incurred after a recent car accident.
Smith, the daughter of Pam Smith, grew up in Jamestown and is a hair stylist at the Cathryn Jamieson Salon. As a result of the accident, Smith – who does not have health insurance – will be unable to work for some time.
The event will incorporate the theme of the 1970s popular television series, M*A*S*H. Music will be provided by “Dead Blues Society,” and the menu will include Trattoria Simpatico’s interpretation of “mess hall” food. A raffle, auction, M*A*S*H* trivia contest, dramatic reality show and prize for the best M*A*S*H costume will be included. Civilian clothes will be permitted.
Tickets are $30 in advance – $40 at the door – and may be purchased at Baker’s Pharmacy, Conanicut Marine store and Cathryn Jamieson Salon. Donations may also be made at any ticket outlet or by emailing Mary Wright at email@example.com. Checks should be payable to “Mary Wright,” but must include “Laura Smith Medical Fund” on the memo line of the check.
