Island Shoreline Clean-up this Saturday
Today is Earth Day, and if you’re wondering how you can make a difference, plan to head down to the recreation center this Saturday, April 25, at 8:30 a.m. to help out with the Jamestown Conservation Commission’s annual Island Shoreline Clean-up.
The event was rescheduled from last Saturday because of rain, said commission member Chris Powell.
“We had about 12 people show up and they all voted to come back next week,” he said.
Continental breakfast will be provided by Slice of Heaven. Participants will be divided into teams and dispatched to public shoreline areas.
The roll-off at East Ferry where the trash is collected is provided by Island Rubbish.
At noon, participants will meet back at the recreation center for a lunch provided by the Conanicut Island Land Trust.
Bring gloves and wear appropriate shoes; bags will be provided. Contact Patrick Driscoll at 560-0111 for more information.
