Charles T. Graves, 62
passed away Friday, April 30, 2010, in Newport Hospital. He was the husband of Janice (Krajewski) Graves.
Born in Smithfield, he was the son of the late Charles and Helen (Browning) Graves. He resided in Jamestown for the past seven years, previously residing in North Providence and Cumberland for 13 years.
Mr. Graves was a principal for many years, most recently at the Saylesville Elementary School in Lincoln, as well as the St. Patrick School in Cumberland. He was also interim principal at many area schools, including the James L. McGuire Elementary School, North Providence; Globe Park Elementary School, Woonsocket; and Marieville Elementary School, North Providence. He began his career in education as an elementary school teacher and English teacher.
He was a member of the Army National Guard.
Mr. Graves loved floral design, painting and traveling in his spare time.
Besides his wife, he leaves one son, Geoffrey C. Graves, of Quincy, Mass.; two sisters, Patricia Gobeille of Laconia, N.H. and Helen Sisco of Smithfield; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, May 4, at St. James Episcopal Church in Woonsocket. Burial was in Union Cemetery in North Smithfield.
