Parade flag sales to benefit medical fund

The Jamestown Medical Fund will sell flags during the town’s annual Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 31, at an information table set up by St. Mark Church. Eighth-grade students from Lawn Avenue School will also sell the flags on Narragansett Avenue and by the monument at East Ferry.

The flag sale is a fundraiser for the Jamestown Medical Fund, which was created to help bridge the gap for members of the community whose medical costs for illness or injury exceed their ability to pay. The organization was created in 1999, and assistance is provided for all types of medical situations, including hospitalization, medical supplies and services, and prescriptions. It is funded by private donations and fundraising events.

Applications for fund assistance are available at Baker’s Pharmacy, Jamestown Family Practice or by contacting the fund directly via P.O. Box 236, Jamestown. An application can be downloaded at www. jamestownmedicalfund.org, where you can also find information and resources for prescriptions, insurance, assistance and advocates for special needs or services.
